How Much Time Have I Spent on League of Legends?

Riot has never shipped a lifetime hours counter: the client shows the current season and nothing before it. A lifetime League of Legends playtime total needs a third-party tracker that reads your match history through Riot's API. Two routes, plus what the number says about your rank.

The Quick Answer: Two Ways to Check Your Total Hours

1. The League client. Profile, then Stats. Games played and time played for the current season. Official, exact, and it wipes when the split ends.

2. A playtime tracker. Your Riot ID in, a lifetime estimate out. This is what people mean by how much time have I wasted on LoL. It reaches back a few years, not to Season 3.

Run both.

Method 1: Check Your Season Playtime in the League Client

  1. Open the client and log in.

  2. Click your profile icon in the top right.

  3. Select the Stats tab, last on the right.

  4. Read the bottom left panel: games played and time played, split by queue.

  5. Use the season dropdown for previous splits.

That counter is per season, not lifetime, and Riot runs three splits a year now. Screenshot it in the last week of every split: that is the only record of that split's games that will ever exist.

Method 2: Get a Lifetime Total From a Playtime Tracker

  1. Pick your region from the dropdown (NA, EUW, KR and the rest).

  2. Enter your Riot ID as Name#TAG. The tag matters, and it is often not your old summoner name.

  3. Search, then read the total in days and hours plus the matches counted.

Wasted on LoL is the original, NoobHours adds per-champion hours and a mode breakdown, LolValue and BoostRoyal's calculator run different maths, and OP.GG gives raw game counts.

No login, no password. They read publicly available match data through Riot's public API, though sites like wol.gg and lolvalue do rank looked-up accounts on public leaderboards.

Why Two Trackers Give You Two Different Numbers

Some sites sum the real recorded duration of every match. Others multiply your game count by an assumed 30 minute average, which scores a 15 minute remake as a full game and shaves a quarter off every 45 minute slugfest. The two totals can land 10% apart: 80 hours at the 800 mark that either happened or did not.

Riot serves roughly the last two years of match records, sites cap how many they read (BoostRoyal stops at 2,000), and newer trackers reconstruct back to Patch 11.1 and no further. Queue time and champ select are never counted. Chinese accounts sit outside the public API, and match history did not survive the 2023 Garena handover.

And no, trackers do not skip ARAM, normals or rotating modes, whatever the boosting blogs say: those queues get their own rows.

Do the Math Yourself (and Get a Better Number Than the Sites Do)

Started before 2021? Trackers are missing your best years. Pull games played per season from OP.GG or your client, multiply by average match length, divide by 60. Skip the flat 30 minutes some calculators assume, because games get shorter as you climb: the per-tier averages run about 31 minutes in Iron, 30 in Gold, 27:44 in Diamond and 25:52 in Challenger.

So 1,400 Gold games is 700 hours. Add 3 to 5 minutes per game for queue and champ select and your real time invested is nearer 793.

Is 800 Hours a Lot? What Your Total Actually Means

Wasted on LoL puts the average across eight million lookups at around 832 hours. Run it backwards: four games a day at half an hour is two hours a day, 14 a week, 60 a month, roughly 730 a year. Under 300 a year is casual, 500 to 900 is a dedicated player with a job, 1,500 plus means League is your main hobby. It measures exposure, and exposure is not skill.

Hours vs Rank: Why 2,000 Hours in Silver Isn't a Mystery

Split the total in two: practice hours and volume hours. Ranked solo/duo is the only queue that trains the decisions your MMR tests, because it is the only one where a loss costs you solo/duo LP. A 60/40 lean toward ARAM and normals explains a flat LP graph by itself.

Ranked hours divided by divisions climbed this split. Under 15 hours per division is efficient. Past 50 and you are buying exposure.

Hours outside your top two champions. Ten or more names means you learned every matchup a little. Coaches use one role, two mains and a pocket pick for a climbing window. That sorting is most of what a fast climb is.

Turn the Number Into a Weekly Time Budget

Spend the number instead of admiring it. Set a weekly ranked cap. Stop after two losses in a row, because tilt hours count against your MMR. One VOD review per ten games. One role, two mains. Then recheck the tracker in 30 days and compare hours added against LP moved.

Near the 1,000 hour mark the plateau is never a volume problem. We see it constantly: the same three mistakes repeat across a thousand games because nothing names them for you. Someone watching your screen will, inside fifteen minutes. If your total says 1,500 hours and your rank has not moved in a year, get your VODs reviewed by a coach who plays your role before you add another 500.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money have I spent on League of Legends? Riot keeps the receipts: the client store shows your purchase history, but not a lifetime total. Sign in to the League support site, submit a ticket asking for your purchase history, and they return your lifetime real-money spend. Quick estimate: skins owned times roughly 1,350 RP at your regional rate.

Do my smurf accounts count toward my total playtime? No. Every tracker works per Riot ID, so a smurf is a separate lookup with a separate total. Run each account and add the results by hand. For most players the smurf hides a surprising share of the off-role and ARAM hours you never counted.

Do bot games, customs and rotating modes count in a playtime tracker? Modes like ARAM, Arena and URF are counted and usually get their own row. Bot games are counted by some trackers and skipped by others. Custom games and practice tool time are almost never counted, since they are not served through the match list.

Why does a playtime tracker say my Riot ID doesn't exist? Nine times out of ten it is the tag or the region. Copy Name#TAG straight from your client profile, since your tag is often not your old summoner name, and check the region dropdown matches the server you play on.

Check the number, then run those two ratios. If most of your hours sit outside the queue you want to rank in, you just found the cheapest LP available to you. Browse coaches by rank and role and book one before your next ranked block.
